Frequently asked questions
The things people usually ask, collected. If you cannot find the answer — write to us and we will reply.

How it works
You get in touch, we go through the need together with you, and then we select the tutor who suits the student best — based on subject, level, need and personality. So you do not browse a catalogue: we do the matching for you, because the wrong match is worse than no match.
Because a tutor who is brilliant at Year 9 maths is not automatically the right person for a Year 4 child who has lost their confidence. We go through the need with you first and then choose someone. It costs us an extra day and saves you weeks.
No, and we do not call them teachers. A tutor at Nextrum is at upper secondary school or university and has recently taken the same courses as the student, but is not a trained teacher. That is also the point: they remember where they got stuck and explain in a way that is close to the student. If you are looking for a certified teacher, we are the wrong choice, and we would rather say so now than after the first session.
The most common are maths, Swedish and English, but we also arrange help in the sciences, humanities, modern languages and programming. Tell us what you need when you get in touch and we will say whether we have the right person.
Yes. You choose whether sessions are held online or in person, and can switch between the two from session to session. Online works for most subjects and makes it easier to find the right person wherever you live.
The tutor writes a report on what was covered and how it went, and you get access to extra digital exercises. The reports collect in the student view so you can see progress over time.
It is the logged-in view where student and parent see the study plan, upcoming sessions, reports and progress in one place. It unlocks once the matching is complete.
Sessions are whole hours — one, two or three. You suggest the day, time and length, and the tutor accepts it or suggests another. The length can differ from one session to the next.
Yes. Both you and the tutor can move a session, and the other party sees the change immediately in their view. A session that is not paid yet you cancel yourselves in your view. If it is already paid, get in touch and we will cancel it and refund you — a session that never took place costs nothing.
If the student does not turn up without cancelling, the session counts as completed and must be paid. If it has already been paid, the amount is not refunded. The tutor kept the time free. If you need to cancel, do it before the session starts: in your view if the session is not paid yet, otherwise by getting in touch with us.
Only once the tutor has written the report. The report is the record that the session took place, and it appears in the student view so you can see what was covered.
What it costs
Tutoring costs SEK 379 an hour. The price includes matching, the study plan, booking, administration and payment handling. There is no registration fee and no minimum term. See the full pricing page.
You pay for each session by card, either in advance or after the session when you confirm the report. In advance is possible as soon as your tutor has confirmed the time. After the session the tutor writes a report, and you confirm it in the student view, even when the session has already been paid. When you confirm it you can choose an invoice instead, which comes at the start of the following month with ten days to pay and no fee. Booking, payment and session all connect in the student view, so you can always see what you have paid for.
That is up to you. Some families book a session a week, others only before a test. There is no minimum you have to reach.
Yes. There is no minimum term and no notice period. You can pause, change tutor or stop altogether — just get in touch.
No. Getting in touch and talking to us about what you need is free, and you are not tied to anything.
No, today you pay by card: in advance, or after the session when you confirm the report. Your payments are listed in the student view.
No. You can pay in advance, as soon as your tutor has confirmed the time, or after the session when you confirm the report. A session that has taken place must be paid even if the report has not been confirmed, and if it is left unpaid we will get in touch. If the payment gives you trouble, get in touch — it can almost always be sorted.
Being a tutor
Anyone at upper-secondary school or university who is confident in the subjects they want to help with. We look just as much at how you explain things and treat others as at your grades. Read more and apply.
Everyone who applies goes through the application, an interview and Nextrum’s checks before being approved. Only then can they be matched with a student. After each session we collect feedback, and anyone who does not measure up gets no further assignments.
You decide which subjects you take, how much you work and when. There is no required number of hours, but it counts in your favour if you can work at least 4 hours a week. The student does best with the same person week after week, so expect to keep to what you say yes to.
Payment is made for sessions that were completed and reported. You see your hours worked and your statement in the tutor view, and Nextrum handles the payout.
You apply, we interview, and you can start only once you have been approved. Until then you are not visible to any family.
Yes. The family suggests a time, and you accept it or suggest another. No session happens without your yes. You also choose your subjects and decide how much you work.
A session that never took place earns nothing, and the family does not pay for it. If the student does not turn up without cancelling, the session counts as completed, because you kept the time free.
Safety and privacy
Every tutor goes through Nextrum’s selection and vetting process before being matched with a student. Payment goes through Nextrum and communication through the platform, so the parent always has oversight of what is booked and said.
We never sell your data on. We use it to match you, to contact you and to handle booking and payment.
Get in touch and we will change it. It is no trouble and costs nothing — a match that does not work is worse for everyone.
We are responsible for running the service — matching, the platform, payment, and for the tutors being checked. We do not promise study results. It would not be honest to, and nobody who promises it can keep it.
Yes. There is no minimum term, no notice period and no monthly fee. You only pay for the sessions you book, and paid sessions that never took place are refunded.
